Odyssey of the Seas starts its journey from Israel in Summer 2021
Royal Caribbean International has announced that the brand new Odyssey of the Seas will begin sailing from Haifa, Israel in summer 2021.
Royal Caribbean will give Israelis a mix of three- to seven-night escapes to the Greek Isles and Cyprus, according to the press release. The latest sailings will be available for purchase on March 9.
The cruise line said the roundtrip sailings from Haifa will include stops in the Mediterranean, including Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos, and Athens, Greece, as well as Limassol, Cyprus.
Royal Caribbean International's president and CEO, Michael Bayley, said he was "thrilled" to announce the cruises from Israel.
Residents of Israel will be the first guests to cruise on Odyssey during its inaugural season, according to the press release.
According to Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, this was made possible by a successful nationwide vaccination program.
Royal Caribbean will be the first cruise line to deliver fully vaccinated sailings, in partnership with Israel's health and tourism authorities, where both crew and guests over the age of 16 will be vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the cruise line.
The additional health and safety initiatives that Israel and Royal Caribbean will introduce will be revealed at a later date.
