"We have been considering such a possibility for a while already; however, the quarantine moods predominant in the world have accelerated the process. The manager of the Vessel Traffic Service of the Port Authority and its IT specialists gathered together to find a way, how a vessel could be manoeuvred without getting into the vessel", said Adomas Alekna

Approx. 7 000 vessels reach port of Klaipeda each year – most of them are met by maritime pilots before entering the port gate. This Port Authority employee gets into the vessel from the boat and links its equipment there to help the captain of the vessel enter the vessel safely into the port.

Another digital system that supports port processes is the miscellaneous spatial network of "PortGIS" digital map, installed several years ago in the port. It not only encourages research for specialists from various fields, but also leads to the automation and digitization of port processes, and helps to ensure their health.
