Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group of US Navy enters South China Sea

On 23 January, the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG) entered the South China Sea to perform routine operations, the 7th fleet of the US Navy reported.

A+A-

The TRCSG is expected to be deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet to ensure the freedom of the seas, establish maritime security relationships, and perform a wide range of operations.

While the strike group is conducting maritime safety operations in the South China Sea, which include fixed and rotary-wing aircraft flight operations, maritime strike exercises and organized tactical training between surface and air units.

The TRCSG consists of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11, the USS Bunker Hill (CG 52) Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, Destroyer Squadron 23, and the USS Russell (DDG 59) and USS John Finn class guided-missile destroyers of the Arleigh Burke class (DDG 113).

The region's operability of the TRCSG explicitly supports the navigation strategy of the Chief of Naval Activity to master all-domain fleet operations and exercise with like-minded navies to boost collective strength.
