Samsung Heavy Industries receives order for two LNG-fueled VLCC

Equipped with S-Fugas, an independently developed LNG fueling system from SHI, these vessels will comply with IMO 2020, which came into effect earlier this year and will reduce SOx emissions by 99%, NOx by 85% and carbon dioxide by 25% compared to diesel fuel.

Other cutting-edge SHI technologies that improve fuel efficiency by improving propeller rotational energy efficiency while operating and SVESSEL will also be applied to the ships.

In order to respond preemptively to increased demand for cleaner ships in the wake of IMO 2020, SHI has developed a competitive edge in vessels fuelled by LNG, adopting LNG fuel tanks and engines.
