Russia's hydrographic vessel continues its long-distance cruise to Antarctica
Pacific Fleet's "Marshal Gelovani" hydrographic vessel (HV) continues its long-distance voyage to the Antarctic coast, RF Defense Ministry's press center says.
The exploration is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Antarctica discovery and the 250th anniversary of the birth of Admiral Ivan Krusenstern, which is sponsored by the Russian Geographical Society and will last more than three months.
The ship has crossed more than 7 thousand nautical miles since the departure of the HV "Marshal Gelovani" from Vladivostok and made a call at the Indonesian port of Tanjung Priok.
The crew is currently in the Indian Ocean conducting tasks. Pacific Ship hydrographic service specialists perform 6,000 linear kilometers of track measurements along the route, perform seven hydrological stations, and execute hydrometeorological observations.
