HMM Rotterdam to visit Rotterdam during its maiden voyage
HMM Rotterdam will call Amaliahaven in Rotterdam during its maiden voyage to move containers to the Rotterdam World Gateway.
HMM Rotterdam is the sister ship of HMM Algeciras -the newest container ship in the world- which arrived the location on 3 June, said Port of Rotterdam in its release.
The vessel can handle slightly more 20-foot containers on board than the previous largest container ship in the world, MSC Gülsün: 23,964 TEUs compared to 23,756 TEUs.
The Korean vessel was shipped to the Okpo shipyard by Daewoo Shipping & Marine Engineering. It is 400 meters long and 61 meters high. The vessel originates from Yantian and will leave for Hamburg at 7 a.m. on Sunday, 16 August.
HMM is the new name for Hyundai Merchant Marine. The shipowner of South Korea is the ninth largest container shipping firm in the world.
