Fishing on the rise during COVID-19 pandemic
Outdoor sports such as fishing have made a comeback as a way for people to destress and unwind during the pandemic, with social distance limits becoming a rule in 2020.
78 percent of Americans believe mental health is an appealing excuse to try fishing, according to a study.
Studies have shown that being outdoors can be very helpful , particularly in reducing your heart rate.
“Being on the water can be very calming and therapeutic for a lot of people. They find that their stress level goes down, they feel like they’re connecting with nature. We have found that doctors all over the world are prescribing nature if you will as a form of stress relief," said Dr. Sue Varma, a Board Certified Psychiatrist in an interview that she made with KRCR.
