Fincantieri to build for FFG(X) program of U.S. Navy.

Fincantieri said the U.S. Department of Defense has awarded Marinette Marine (FMM) with a contract of almost $800 million to design and build the first-class FFG(X) guided missile frigate for the U.S. Navy.

The deal provides for an option for 9 additional aircraft, as well as provisions for post-delivery availability and crew training, with the total value of $5.5 billion. The U.S. Navy plans to build 10 additional warships, for a total of 20, as part of the forthcoming frigate programme.

For this success, Fincantieri is reaping the benefits of an enduring dedication.

In addition to the Littoral Combat Ships programme, which envisages the development of 16 warships (10 of which have already been delivered), a multi-billion dollar contract was awarded last December to FMM for the development of 4 Multi-Mission Surface Combatants (MMSC) to be sold to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of the US Foreign Military Sales Program.

The FMM filed with the U.S. Governing and the United States Navy, of which special recognition of the company is added. The Group's proposal is based on the FREMM frigate design, which is known internationally as the most technologically advanced and the basis of a 10-unit program awarded to Fincantieri for the Italian Navy – the last vessel is being constructed.
