Diamond Princess gets deep cleaning
Following a COVID-19 outbreak earlier this year, the Diamond Princess received what Princess Cruises said was a Level-3 deep cleaning thanks to Belfor Company, which cleaned and disinfected the entire ship in Japan.
According to the cruise company, the cleaning and procedure behind it were monitored and approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health and CTEH.
The ship has now been certified by the Japanese authorities, lifting its quarantine and confirming its fit to sail without COVID-19 traces.
The ship is now undergoing a refurbishment at a Yokohama Harbor shipyard — including replacing all mattresses, linens, toys, etc. — and planned technical projects, the company said.
Slated to sail this summer from Japan, it's unclear when the ship will return to service.
