Damen Shipyards delivers its latest vessel to Rederij Groen
Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2710 is delivered to Rederij Groen on September 4th by Damen Shipyards Group. This was the first delivery in the Netherlands of the latest FCS vessel, in Scheveningen.
The vessel was named Green Waves. From contract signing to vessel handover it's been less than 6 months.
Delivery pace is due to the tradition of Damen constructing standardized vessels in series and the hull was already under construction at Damen Shipyards Antalya, Turkey.
In Germany and Denmark, Rederij Groen has won a contract to use the vessel to carry out crew transfers for the oil & gas industry.
Rederij Groen already operates ten Damen vessels, including three Damen FCS 2610s. Like its predecessor, the FCS 2710 draws on Damen 's Sea Axe hull – here seen in the shape of Twin Axe – to provide protection and comfort, even in raw seas.
Damen built the FCS 2710 to give more versatility, more deck space, more tank capacity, greater comfort and more accommodation. A main feature of the enhanced credentials for comfort is the 1-meter height rise over the water of the vessel.
Although the vessel is just one meter longer than the FCS 2610, it can accommodate twice as many passengers – in its regular configuration, the FCS 2710 can transport 26 people. Damen made this possible by building a flush desk for the FCS 2710, maximizing space utilization efficiency. Besides the elevated housing.
“We are very proud of the fact the Rederij Groen has decided to use three Damen crew tender vessels –three FCS 2610 vessels and now the new FCS 2710, for their new project. Two of the FCS 2610 vessels – Green Wind and Green Water have been refitted earlier this year at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in preparation for their new job," Vincent de Maat said.
