Olympic Shipping sells 17-year-old VLCC

The Greek owner of Onassis Foundation-controlled Olympic Shipping sold a 17-year-old VLCC to Asian buyers.

Seasure Shipbroking announced that Olympic Shipping sold its 2003-built 305,000 dwt VLCC Olympic Liberty to an Asian buyer for about $26 million, including Advanced Shipping & Trading. The buyer was listed by Allied Shipbroking as Thai owner Nathalin, parent group of tanker operator Prima Marine.

If the sale is confirmed, Olympic Shipping will have a reduced fleet, according to VesselsValue, of 30 vessels consisting of 10 bulkers and 20 tankers.

A fleet of 29 tankers with another three on order is currently operated by Nathalin's Prima Marine.

Currently Olympic Shipping's fleet comprises of 21 crude oil tankers and 10 dry bulk carriers of a total carrying capacity of 6,1 million DWT.  It has assigned to Springfield Shipping Co. Panama S.A. the technical management of the Tanker fleet, whereas Olympic Vision Maritime Inc. has taken over the management of the Dry bulk fleet.
