New Liebherr ship to shore container crane enters service at Port of Alicante

Liebherr Container Cranes have handed over a ship to shore (STS) container crane to Terminales Maritimas Del Sureste S.A (TMS) in the Port of Alicante, Spain.

The crane, which has a reach of 46.9 meters, a span of 15.24 meters, and a lift height of 36 meters with a SWL of 50 tons under single lift spreader, will be a key component of TMS's port extension scheme, which is being carried out under a concession from the Alicante Port Authority.

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd designed and installed the crane after being awarded the contract in Q3 2019.

TMS's terminal equipment is all connected to the control center for quality assurance and operational performance. A remote crane management system is also included with the Liebherr crane, allowing for remote assistance, service, and diagnostics. TMS finds safety to be a primary concern at their plant.

A traffic light system for controlled traffic movement, laser and mechanical crane to crane anti collision systems, ultrasonic anti collision systems for gantry travel, and laser boom to vessel anti collision and sill beam protection systems are all included in the new Liebherr STS.
