Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard launches a new dry cargo carrier
Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (a United Shipbuilding Corporation company) based in Nizhny Novgorod says it has launched yet another dry cargo carrier for Project RSD59, Pola Varvara.
According to Oleg Tyukayev, at the moment three ships of the series that have undergone sea trials are docked in the harbor of the shipyard ready for delivery to the company. The backlog of orders from the shipyard spans a period of several years. It is therefore important for the organization to have every full working day.
A bottle of champagne was shattered over the bow, when the ship hit the sea, according to a tradition.
The Pola Varvara is the seventh Project RSD59 vessel in a series of eleven dry cargo carriers. In March 2019, Krasnoye Sormovo and State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) signed a contract for the construction of the third series numbered eleven dry cargo carriers of RSD59 size.
Volgo-Don Max class RSD59 ships have the highest dimensions to sail along the Canal Volga-Don.
The vessel is designed for the transport of general, containerized freight, timber, grain, overloaded freight and dangerous goods of B Class in R2 navigation area with waves up to 3% and 100 kilometers away from shelter, Russia's inland waterways.
