"The maritime industry in Turkey is not different than the rest of the world in having been badly impacted by the pandemic but is well placed to bounce back,” Şadan Kaptanoğlu stated in a webinar on The Future of the Turkish Shipping Industry.

"We are crisis management experts," stated Kaptanoğlu, pointing out that shipping had been able to increase its share of Turkey's international trade during the crisis "because it is the safest and securest form of trade."

Turkey has a number of maritime occupations; including shipbuilding, repair and demolition in particular, that have proven historically resilient and have made the country one of the Med region's main shipping centers.

The shipping industry in the country is now looking forward with confidence to the next Expomaritt Exposhipping event, to be held in Istanbul in April 2021, organized by Informa Markets with the help of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping.
