Helsinki Shipyard starts building two expedition cruises
Helsinki Shipyard Oy said the unannounced company's ordered production of the first vessel of the two luxury expedition cruise vessels started May 27. Despite the global situation clouded by the COVID-19 pandemic, steel cutting started in secure condition
These luxury exploration cruise vessels ordered from the Helsinki shipyard in the summer of 2019 are expected to operate both in winter and summer in the Arctic and Antarctic waters, as well as in the tropical waters during the spring and autumn seasons.
The steel blocks for the vessels are made by the Western Baltija Shipbuilding shipyard in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
”The shipyard of Western Baltija Shipbuilding is an important partner for us. We have cooperated with them already in several projects”, comments project manager Jonas Packalén.
Production at Helsinki Shipyard will begin in August, and construction of the hull will begin in September 2020 with the laying of keels.
The cruise ships for luxury expeditions will be launched in 2021 and 2022.
