Manson Construction ordered the giant hopper dredge last month from Keppel AmFELS to build the hopper dredge.

In Brownsville, Texas, the 420-foot-long dredge that will be flagged by the U.S. will be constructed. It is anticipated that it will be fully operational by 2023.

"ABS is highly experienced at supporting delivery of both Jones Act vessels and complex, specialist maritime projects, such as this. We are proud to work with Manson and Keppel AmFELS to facilitate the delivery of this landmark vessel to ABS class," Arinjit Roy, ABS Vice President, North America Regional Business Development stated.

In collaboration with Hockema Whalen Myers Associates, Inc. of Seattle, the 15,000 cubic yard hopper dredge has a length of 420 feet, a width of 81 feet, and a draught of 28.5 feet. With a diesel-electric power plant, it will be highly automated.
