MOL names its latest LNG carrier
Japan's major shipping company, Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), has named an LNG carrier chartered to Gail, the natural gas company in the Indian public sector.
Gail Bhuwan is the name of the new vessel and is scheduled for completion in February 2021. It will primarily transport LNG to India from North America.
Gail Bhuwan has an overall length of 297.9 meters and a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters for a cargo tank. It was designed and is operated by MOL LNG Transport Asia by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
Under two long-term sales and purchase contracts signed with US energy majors, Gail, a state-owned business, procures LNG from the US.
The company has a contract for the annual purchase of LNG of about 14 million tons.
