Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, based in Bolshoy Kamen, Primorsky Territory, has been approved to build nuclear-powered ships in compliance with the Russian Federation's safety laws.
The inspection of the Siberia and Far East Interregional Territorial Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision has recently been successfully completed by the shipyard.
The report said Zvezda has become the only Russian shipyard that can build nuclear-powered icebreakers of Project 10510 "Leader" class.
Zvezda Shipyard conducted a steel-cutting ceremony for the Rossiya nuclear-powered icebreaker in June. The shipyard workshops are currently developing parts of a potential ship. The completion of the icebreaker is set for 2027.
The Rosneft-led Consortium is building the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex. Large tonnage vessels, primarily ice-class vessels with a displacement of up to 350000 tons, specialized ships and marine parts, will be constructed by Zvezda. The current backlog of orders at the shipbuilding complex comprises more than 50 ships.
