Turkey's drillship Fatih begins drilling

Turkey's first drillship, Fatih, will start drilling at the Black Sea Tuna-1 location, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez stated.

"We will search every square meter of our seas for Turkey's energy independence," Donmez stated.

The 103-meter-long towers of Fatih were disassembled in Istanbul's Haydarpasa port to allow the vessel to pass safely under the bridges through the Bosphorus before its voyage into the Black Sea.

The Fatih drilling vessel set sail from Istanbul to the Trabzon port on May 29 for the Black Sea, where it reached its reassembly destination on June 6.
