Hellström has over 25 years of shipping and towing experience and joined Svitzer Europe as Managing Director for Scandinavia in 2014. His position expanded to include the significant activity of Svitzer in Germany in 2017.
Mattias oversaw the acquisition of Port Towage Nordic by Svitzer Europe and its recent extension of line handling services in Bremerhaven and towage services in Emden, Germany, during his tenure as Cluster MD.
He also oversaw strategic changes and enhancements to the region's 35 strong Svitzer tug fleet, and helped spearhead Svitzer's plan to flex its fleet across cluster ports across Denmark, Sweden and Germany.
Hellström was Sweden's Managing Director of the MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company before joining Svitzer.
He also currently sits on the European Tugowners Association Executive Committee and is a member of the Swedish Sea Rescue Society's Board of Directors.
