South Korea to build world's offshore wind power generation complex

Under the deal, in Korea's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) off Ulsan, OW Offshore will build three 500MW complexes with a combined total capacity of 1.5 GW.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) with OW Offshore, a Spanish offshore wind power firm, and Kumyang, a Korean renewable energy company, to build a giant floating offshore wind power complex off the Ulsan coast, which the parties involved say will be the world's largest.

Currently, South Korea is accelerating the construction of a new wind power generation system to create 4.6 GW of floating offshore wind farms in the country's southeast over the next few years.
