Samsung Heavy Industries, one of South Korea's three largest shipbuilders, has make an agreement with client from Oceania to build 10 crude carriers fueled by LNG. Samsung Heavy stated that it will deliver the LNG-powered vessels by January 2022. Including this deal, the shipyard aims to bag $7.8 billion worth of orders this year. To date, Samsung has received orders for 29 vessels this year, with a total value of $4.2 billion.
With the deal, the eco-friendly ships will be powered by LNG using the company's own special "S-Fugas" technology, which reduces emissions of toxic chemicals by up to 99 percent. S-FuGaS is composed of the tank for storing extremely low temperature LNG. The supplying pressure of Natural gas delivery pressure depends on the specifications of the main engines. Among the FuGaS system package, tanks for extremely low temperature used as cargo tanks for mini LNG carriers and LNG bunkering ships, etc. are cargo tanks. Those cargo tanks can be separately manufactured and supplied.
