Russia, Iran and China to hold joint naval drills in the Indian Ocean

Russia plans to conduct joint naval exercises with Iran and China in the Indian Ocean later this month, Moscow's ambassador to Tehran was quoted as saying on Monday by the RIA news agency.

“The next multilateral naval exercises will take place in the northern part of the Indian Ocean in mid-February 2021,” stated Levan Dzhagaryan, Moscow’s ambassador.

In December 2019, in the Indian Ocean, the three countries performed similar naval exercises.

The drills, he said, will rehearse search and rescue operations and ensure shipping safety.
