Rosmorport prepares its icebreaker fleet to sail in winter

FSUE's "Rosmorport" says its fleet is being trained for winter navigation 2020-2021 and icebreaker help in advance as the vessels' good technical condition is one of the key requirements for ensuring navigational protection.

In compliance with the specifications of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, the company is currently organizing repairs and maintenance of navigation aids and constructions.

The company conducts procurement processes for the option of wearables and replacement parts service providers and suppliers. Contractors for nine FSUE "Rosmorport" icebreakers have already been selected.

Dock repair has already started on icebreakers Kapitan Sorokin and Ivan Kruzenshtern. Such repair involves inspection of the icebreaker 's hull and calculation of residual thicknesses, inspection or replacement of deadweight propeller shaft line repairs, hull clean-up and decoration, as well as repairing the ship's mechanisms.

The remaining icebreakers will be fixed internavigationally. Such works envisage the structures of the vessel being preserved with preparation. The repairs are currently under way on icebreakers Kapitan M. Izmailov, St. Petersburg, Kapitan Kosolapov, Dikson, and Kapitan Chadaev.
