Riverboat fire in Russia, a seaman died

Boat engineer’s cabin caught fire onboard the Pyotr Tchaikovsky riverboat in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The fire on board a riverboat docked at the Oktyabrskaya River started around 05:30 and was quenched at 06:10. The city’s crises office told Russian News Agency TASS that the fire had emitted within the boat engineer’s cabin, scorching 13 square meters.

"The fire killed a man inside the boat’s cabin", a public speaker for Russian Emergencies Ministry stated. "A total of 240 passengers and 80 personel had to be evacuated." the spokesperson added.
