Opus Marine inks deal with Damen for fast crew supplier

Damen Shipyards Group has announced that it has signed a contract with Opus Marine to supply the 2710 Fast Crew Supplier (FCS), to be called Allegro.

Serving the offshore wind industry in the German region of the North Sea, the company will run the vessel in support of its charterers.

The FCS 2710 was already being built for stock at Damen's yard at the time of the signing of the contract, and the vessel will be shipped to Opus Marine in March.

A fleet of crew transfer vessels is run by Opus Marine, including Verdi a Damen FCS 2610 and the predecessor to FCS 2710.

The FCS 2710 builds on this design's performance. Even in rough seas, it draws on the same Twin Axe bow to provide safe comfortable transport, Damen said.

“We didn’t see any reason to change this winning team. It is our goal to provide the best CTV service to our clients, which we can only do with the best boats. If the going gets tough, Damen has proven itself to be an impressively reliable partner with an outstanding back office performance and technical support throughout," stated Bernhard Messer, Manager Director of Opus Marine.

The 1 meter increased height of the vessel above the water enables the FCS 2710 to work in water over a wave height of 2 meters, significantly increasing uptime, the builder added. Additional deck area, tank capacity and accommodation are also available on the FCS 2710.
