MV Barracuda completed its first voyage carrying jet fuel

MV Barracuda, the CLEANBU vessel of Klaveness Hybrid Carriers, successfully completed this week's first voyage bearing a component cargo of jet fuel to Korea after discharging its previous cargo of soya beans in China early May.

This first successful shift from dry cargo to jet fuel, the CPP freight with the strictest tank cleanliness criteria, shows the potential of the CLEANBUs to reliably and effectively move from dry freight to the most demanding tanker cargo.

This cargo switching is yet another example of the tremendous importance of our CLEANBU principle in terms of productivity improvements and cuts in carbon emissions. MV Barracuda discharged a cargo of diesel in Argentina before loading soybeans cargo in Brazil, washing and going into dry bulk mode before loading soybeans.

Her overall ballast effort from Argentina's discharge port to Brazil's loading port was around 4 days, when the usual large bulk carrier will sail empty from Asia, usually 30-40 days away. It saves some 2,000 mts of CO2 for the soybean load.
