Mitsui OSK Lines establishes offshore wind division

MOL will launch a Wind Power Energy Business Division amongst a number of restructuring measures.

At Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), Japan's largest shipowner by fleet size, further changes are afoot. In addition to the development of MOL Drybulk, which will house all of MOL's smaller bulk carriers, MOL is increasing its focus on offshore wind at the start of the next financial year on 1 April.

On April 1, Takeshi Hashimoto is expected to become the president and CEO of MOL, with current incumbent Junichiro Ikeda moving up to chairman.

In recent months, Japan's three major shipping lines, including Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) as well as MOL, have all made moves into the offshore wind industry.
