Magnitude 4 earthquake occurred off Aegean Sea

Earthquake occurs off Izmir province on Turkey's Aegean coast with no casualties confirmed so far.

According to Turkey's disaster agency, a magnitude 4 earthquake struck the Aegean Sea on Tuesday.

The quake occurred at 9.24 a.m. outside the Karaburun district in the western province of Izmir. (0624 GMT) local time, said the Authority for Disaster and Emergency Management. At a depth of 7.3 kilometres, it was (4.53 miles).

Turkey ranks among the most seismically active zones in the world. A strong earthquake measuring magnitude 6.6 hit Izmir last October, killing at least 116 individuals and injuring more than 1,000 others.
