Maersk aims to build new sales and logistics centre in Duisburg

A.P.  Moller - Maersk and duisport combine their strengths to create and run a new Duisburg sales and logistics center.

In a short period of time, the new hall is scheduled to be planned and completed. In total, Maersk on Logport VI will take over an area of over 100,000 square meters. The negotiation of the deal is in the final step at the moment. The project will require more than 350 new jobs being created.

On a nearly 43-hectare site with a 500-meter-long quay, a trimodal Logport family logistics facility, including a container terminal, is being built.

“Logport VI enables long-term and sustainable competitive advantages. The new container terminal directly on the Rhine, direct connection to intermodal transport chains in the European hinterland, as well as to Asia, are advantages for competing internationally. The choice made by Maersk shows there is no getting around the Duisburg logistics hub for the big players in the industry”, stated Erich Staake, CEO of Duisburger Hafen AG.

Maersk will build a large distribution and warehouse complex in two phases once the contract has been signed and all necessary permits have been obtained. A significant part of the total area of over 100,000 square meters will be occupied by the company. Another 50,000 square meters could be added in a further expansion stage.
