Kidnapped crew of Bulgarian vessel released by pirates

According to an update given by maritime safety consultancy Ambrey, all the crew who were abducted by pirates from the 1982-built 11,900 dwt general cargo vessel Stevia were released.

The vessel, owned by Naviborn, a Bulgarian firm, was attacked on 16 December while sailing near Nigeria's Brass Offshore Terminal.

Eight crew members were abducted from the vessel, six Ukrainian nationals and two Albanian nationals.

The crew were released to the Bayelsa State of Nigeria, according to Ambrey.
