K Line and ONE hold joint crisis management drill

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd and Ocean Network Express conducted a joint crisis management exercise on 9 February 2021 as part of optimum emergency response preparation, preparedness for any form of major maritime accident.

The drill scenario arose when ONE's chartered vessel from 'K' LINE experienced a major engine failure and, after losing control, collapsed on the Elbe River in Germany.

Containers on the deck collapsed and some of them fell into the water, including dangerous materials. On the surface of the river, a small amount of fuel oil was observed leakage from the ship.

Participants from K Line, ONE headquarters in Singapore, ONE regional headquarters in London, and K Line Ship Management Pte Ltd reported conducting procedures, evaluating potential responses, and analyzing emergency measures with using online communication tools.
