Hyundai ordered fleet of 28 sprinter carriers for Busan Port

Hyundai Development Company (HDC) has ordered a fleet of 28 Konecranes Noell Sprinter Carriers for Busan New Port 2-4.

The Sprinter Carriers will be delivered as part of project 2-4 expansion for the port.

On-order Sprinter Carriers are man-driven, with built-in automation readiness. They are diesel-electric machines that stack containers one over one as part of the rapid move of containers between the quayside and the container yard.

The first batch of 20 single-lift spreader machines, type NSC 424 E, will be shipped in late 2021. Four NSC 624 E type machines, fitted with twin-lift spreaders from Konecranes Noell, will be shipped by July 2022. The last four NSC 424 E style machines, single-lift machines, will be delivered by July 2022 as well.

All machines will be fitted with Stage IV diesel engines, and by special customer order, they will all have eight wheels to lower ground pressure. The regular Noell Sprinter Carrier Konecranes has six wheels.

When the Sprinter Carriers are shipped and worked on request, Busan New Port will have a 64-machine fleet of Konecranes Noell Sprinter Carrier.
