Hutchison Ports and Egyptian Navy to operate new container terminal

Hong Kong-based port operator Hutchison Ports has reached an agreement with the Egyptian Navy to establish and run a new container terminal in Egypt.

The new terminal will be located within the Abu Qir Naval Base and will have a capacity of 2 m teu per year once all phases of the project have been completed.

Total investment in the new terminal is predicted to surpass $730 million.

Hutchison Ports operates two ports in Egypt; Alexandria and El Dekheila.
