Hurtigruten cancels its Antarctica departures

Hurtigruten announced the cancellation of its departures for the Antarctica in October , November and December.

"The situation is still fluid, and developments are unpredictable. There are still major hurdles to overcome. As of now, they do not show much promise to be resolved in time to explore Antarctica under our strict health and safety standards in the coming months," stated Daniel Skjeldam, CEO of Hurtigruten.

Skjeldam said Hurtigruten's number one concern is the health and welfare of the company's guests, crew and employees.

The company plans to restart its expedition cruises from January 2021 with stricter measures.
