Hamburg Bulk Carriers’ Singapore offspring offloads more ships

The Singapore offspring of Hamburg Bulk Carriers, HBC Asia, is cutting its fleet at a fast pace.

Splash announced in October that a string of ships, including its largest ship and only Korean bulker built for sale, the nine-year-old 80,000-dwt kamsarmax Asia Opal, were being marketed for sale. Equasis now discloses that this vessel has just been renamed Spetses Spirit and taken over by Moderna Marine Management of Greece.

A few other broker reports indicate two more sales of HBC supramaxes, namely the 10-year-old 53,661 dwt Asia Zircon 1 and the two-year-old Asia Zircon II. The Vietnamese pair were reportedly sold for just under $15 million to Chinese buyers.
