Fire in a Canadian vessel on the Detroit River

Canadian bulk carrier vessel TECUMSEH suffered fire in engine room near Zug island, Detroit river. The U.S. Coast Guards announced that it will coordinate any investigation into the cause of the fire.

The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Bristol Bay to the scene and launched Coast Guard Station Belle Isle’s response boat and helicopter to assess the situation. The vessel eventually drifted to into Canadian waters and anchored off Windsor's port.

All 16 crew members safely disembarked.

There were no reports of pollution, nor was there any impact to vessel traffic.
