Chinese state-owned GNG Ocean Shipping to build 50 LNG-powered bulkers

The Chinese state-owned GNG Ocean Shipping has issued a tender to seek out contractors to design and build 50 small LNG-powered bulk carriers.

The company will construct twenty five 2,000 dwt bulkers and a further twenty five 3,000 dwt bulkers, according to the tender notice. Pure LNG propulsion will be adopted by all vessels.

The total estimated project price is approximately RMB660 million ($101 million), and the company expects construction to begin before 1 May 2021 and to be completed before 31 March 2022.

GNG Ocean Shipping is a subsidiary of the Navigation Group of Guangdong Province and primarily offers domestic shipping services for coastal and river shipping.
