On March 27, 2020, Celebrity Cruises took delivery of a cruise ship of the second Edge class back from the Chantiers-Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The ship has remained in Europe since then, while the cruise line suspended operations.
The Apex arrived in the Bahamas fresh from a technical call in the Azores and was met by a sister ship, Celebrity Edge, as well as Reflection, Equinox, Silhouette and Summit.
Celebrity Apex was originally scheduled to debut on May 27, 2020 from Barcelona , Spain, but now will kick off cruises on Caribbean itineraries from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and sail.
The new ship is 129,500 gross tons and has a double-occupancy capacity of 2,910 guests.
