The new name “better reflect its current and intended principal business operations and diversified portfolio,” Baker Hughes stated.

The name change comes less than two weeks after Baker Hughes rebranded itself as an energy technology company and rolled out a new logo and look.

The company's ticker symbol -formerly "BHGE" - has changed to "BKR" on Oct. 18. The oilfield services firm is now trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “BKR.”
