14 crew members remain missing in ship collision off Shanghai

An oil tanker collided with a sand barge in the Yangtze River estuary off Shanghai with 14 crew still missing. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

According to a release by the Shanghai Maritime Rescue Center, the Long Qing 1 oil tanker, carrying around 3,000 gasoline, was collided with the Shun Da 11 sand barge.

The collision caused a major fire on the deck of the patrol tanker while the gravel vessel sank.

So far, the rescue teams have saved three of the 17 crew members who were on board, while 14 are still missing.
