The world's largest container ship passed through Suez Canal

The Panama-flagged ship MSC GÜLSÜN transited the Suez Canal for the first time on August 9. The container ship headed to North Western Europe from the Port of Xingang.

The MSC GÜLSÜN is the first of 11 vessels which has under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries and DSME in South Korea. Mohab Mamish, the head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, has announced on Friday the successful transit of the MSC GÜLSÜN.

MSC GULSUN of the Megamax 24 class, owned by Switzerland's Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), can carry over 23,000 containers.  The ship is 400 meters long, 61.4 meters wide, 16 meters deep and a load of 232,000 tons.

The 23,756 teu container ship made its way through the Suez Canal heading northbound towards North-Western Europe having started its voyage at the Port of Xingang, China.
